2019 Honda Passport Review
Drivers in Glendora, El Monte, and La Puente may have heard the rumors, but it’s true: the Honda Passport is back! This impressive SUV made a splash when it was first introduced in 1993. But while production on the Passport ceased in 2002, it couldn’t stay gone for long because 2019 is the year that the Honda Passport makes its much-anticipated return!
At Norm Reeves Honda Superstore West Covina, we’re here to help drivers and adventurers get some of the important details on the newly released 2019 Passport. This Honda Passport review should give you the insight and information you need to learn more so you can get behind the wheel and head out on, or off, the road!
2019 Passport: Impressive Performance & Handling
The 2019 Honda Passport can appease all levels of drivers, from the everyday commuter to the weekend explorer. The vehicle performs just as comfortably on the road as it does on a muddy hill or a rocky path. The vehicle includes the 3.5-liter V6 engine that’s mated with a 9-speed automatic transmission to deliver a smooth acceleration while reaching its 280-horsepower potential.
A major factor that allows the Honda Passport to handle the tough terrain is the Variable Torque Management. This system is a torque vectoring control that uses the all-wheel drive to enhance off-road experiences while improving on-road driving during questionable weather or conditions. The independent suspension and the Intelligent Traction Management system aid you on and off the road. This system can predict the road conditions and apply the appropriate amount of power and torque to both the front and rear wheels to give you better control during your travels.
New Passport Style & Design
The Passport includes a smooth yet rugged design. It features a matte-black grille, aggressive and commanding wheel arches, a higher stance, and a floating roof design to give the vehicle an outdoorsy aesthetic. The vehicle looks as good on the highway as it does on the trails. The model even includes LED headlights and fog lights to help you see your path during night driving.
The interior offers ample space for the driver and four passengers with its 115.9 cubic feet of cabin space. The rear even offers significant room for cargo with 41.2 cubic feet. However, when the rear seats are folded down, the cargo area is capable of expanding to 77.9 cubic feet. The vehicle is tailored to help you get to your destination, or to hit the road and embark on an adventure.
Available Exterior Colors
The Honda Passport offers plenty of various styles and colors to choose from. Drivers looking for a more subtle appearance can opt for the White Diamond Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, or Modern Steel Metallic. If you’re the type of driver who likes to add a bit of mystery to your vehicle, the vehicle offers Crystal Black Pearl or even the Black Forest Pearl which has a deep green appearance. Drivers looking for eye-popping colors have plenty of options, with colors like Deep Scarlet Pearl, Black Copper Pearl, or the Obsidian Blue Pearl.
Connectivity Features & Honda Sensing® Technology
The interior of the 2019 Passport comes with a variety of fun and sophisticated amenities, including a standard 5-inch touchscreen or the available 8-inch screen. Drivers can even enjoy features like Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. This feature integrates your Bluetooth®-paired smartphone to give you direct access to your phone’s apps, libraries, and contacts right from the touchscreen.
The available navigation system in the Honda Passport can help you handle the detours on your journey. On top of providing you with turn-by-turn directions while displaying your GPS location, the system can help you plan an alternate route for when traffic is looking heavy, or there’s obstructions on the road ahead.
Another helpful feature that’s available with the 2019 Honda Passport is the Smart Entry system. This system recognizes when the key fob is in proximity and automatically unlocks the doors so you don’t have to dig your key out and manually unlock it. This system even features Walk Away Auto Lock®, which saves you the trouble of locking your vehicle when all you have to do is simply walk away.
However, drivers can certainly rely on the suite of Honda Sensing® features that come standard.
These driver-assistance features include:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System™- This system uses braking power to reduce the momentum of the vehicle and give the driver a window to stop the vehicle to reduce the severity of the collision or avoid it altogether.
- Forward Collision Warning- This system uses front-mounted sensors that can measure both the rate of approach and distance from an object to provide the driver with a warning.
- Road Departure Mitigation System- When the sensors detect the vehicle in danger of veering off the road, this system will warn the driver while providing selective braking to help prevent the vehicle from going off the road.
- Lane Departure Warning- This system recognizes the lines in the road and warns the driver when the vehicle is in danger of veering into the next lane.
- Lane Keeping Assist System- This system piggybacks off of the previous one by providing selective braking pressure to guide the vehicle back to its intended lane.
- Adaptive Cruise Control- This driver-assistance feature lets you set a preferred distance from the vehicle ahead along with your desired cruising speed. The system will favor the distance over the speed and will adapt to the flow of traffic without driver intervention.
